On Seeking God

Church growth literature often describes people as being either “seekers” or “believers.” As I prayed through the following list of scriptures on seeking God, I was reminded that we should never stop being seekers, even when we are believers.

1 Chronicles 28:9
"And you, my son Solomon, acknowledge the God of your father, and serve him with wholehearted devotion and with a willing mind, for the Lord searches every heart and understands every motive behind the thoughts. If you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will reject you forever.”

Psalm 27:7-10
“Hear my voice when I call, O Lord; be merciful to me and answer me. My heart says of you, ‘Seek his face!’ Your face, Lord, I will seek. Do not hide your face from me, do not turn your servant away in anger; you have been my helper. Do not reject me or forsake me, O God my Savior. Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me.”

Psalm 63:1
“O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water.”

Psalm 119:2
“Blessed are they who keep his statutes and seek him with all their heart.”

 Matthew 6:33
“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”

Matthew 7:7
"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”

Hebrews 11:6
“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”

Don’t stop seeking Him with all your heart!
